Texas Water Park Employees Hospitalized After Pool Chemical Snafu
16 contractors and employees of the Great Wolf Lodge in Webster, Texas, were sent to the hospital Wednesday morning to be closely monitored by healthcare workers after improperly mixed pool chemicals caused chemical reactions.
Officials in Webster released a statement explaining a third-party contractor at the new water park didn't mix the chemicals correctly. The ordeal was stated to have occurred in an isolated building away from the hotel and water park.
According to authorities, 5 people evacuated the building, and those in the immediate area were transported to the hospital after being decontaminated. The local fire department monitored the area, isolated the tanks, and confirmed no chemicals were detected in the hotel or water park. An environmental company came in and worked with Great Wolf Lodge to clean the tanks safely, and the fire department gave the all-clear to open the resort up, as previously planned, on August 29th.
The Webster Great Wolf Lodge spans a massive 27 acres, has 532 rooms, and has a whopping 95,000 sq ft indoor waterpark, per their website. It's the second location built in Texas and the 22nd in North America.
Have you ever visited a Great Wolf Lodge? I've always wanted to go! The sun and I do NOT get along, and an indoor waterpark sounds like a fantastic weekend to me and my pale skin. Should I visit?
