Let's start at the start. Response to our 37th FMX Birthday Bash announcement has been fantastic, but there are always those who want to whine about the bands or one detail or another.

I guess all of this is to be expected. If I ordered free pepperoni pizza for 2,000 people, there would probably be a hundred that were pissed we didn't get sausage or cheese (or for gawd's sake, pineapple).

First off, why the Pavilion?

Well, I'd love to say "why not?" because you aren't paying the bills, but let's be nice.

It's February. You may not realize that February weather can be very unpredictable. Wild West is no longer available (and people complained that it was "country" anyways...like the building had a music preference). Fairpark Coliseum is too hard to handle and really too big. How about the Civic Center? I always thought we should have shows there. Well, there is a fee for the Civic Center and they take the alcohol sales. The Pavilion is mostly paid for with alcohol sales (and ultimately, this means a cheaper ticket to you).

Finally, it would take thousands and thousands of dollars more to take the show outside. With that said, if the show sells out early and the weather is looking good, it could possibly move outdoors. Then again, if we move outdoors, will we be dealing with noise complaints from Sheila Patterson-Harris again?

Why Killswitch & Anthrax?

The answer is timing.

Our actual birthday is January 12th, and we try to find the best package that fits near that date. Sometimes we have to stretch all the way out to March to get it done. Plus, I really, really like the opportunity to serve our old-school metal fans, which is something we haven't been able to do in a while.

Will this show sell out?

The FMX Birthday Bash always does. It generally happens the week of, but there are rarely any tickets left the day of the show. You can get them online at Ticketfly.

Yes, Havock will be there.

No Smashmouth or Saliva this time.

I hope this provides some answers for those of you who wonder how things go down the way they do. We hope to see you at the 37th FMX Birthday Bash on Friday, Feb. 9th, 2018 at the Lone Star Event Center Pavilion. If not, we hope to see you at another one down the road.
