Corey Taylor busted out a classic at his 2021 tour opener.

Hey, isn't this the guy from Slipknot?

Corey Taylor performed a cover of "On the Dark Side" by John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band on his tour opener. He took it a step further, inserting some John Mellencamp, The Romantics, and, yes, Neil Diamond. I hate to tell you metal fans this, but his voice was perfect for all of it.

It's okay, don't fret. Taylor knocks out plenty of Stone Sour, a little Slipknot, C.M.F.T. and other classic rock covers, like Eddie Money's "Shakin," and "In The Flesh" by Pink Floyd. Now keep in mind, this is Corey Taylor, and he's covered everybody, so it might be a whole fresh batch of songs when he plays the Lone Star Amphitheater on Thursday night.

Pardon me if I attempt to read Taylor's mind and the mood of the room, but this just looks to be a celebration of all things rock. I imagine the word 'jubilant' is going to be the operative word for the 1,000+ fans who bought tickets for this show.

We are just excited and happy as little clams to have Corey Taylor bringing back the big rock to the Lone Star Events Center. We're also pumped that the 39th FMX Birthday Bash ft. In This Moment, Black Veil Brides and more, is back on, and that we're part of shows from Ill Nino, Dirty Honey, Tantric, Saliva/Black Stone Cherry, Powerman 5000 and Smile Empty Soul. We'll even announce a pretty big club show on Tuesday, May 25th (that was just for you guys who actually read our articles). So download the FMX app and listen to The RockShow that morning.

Get ready to party with FMX!
