It’s just a guess, but the crowd must have reached 6,000.  It’s probably the largest crowd that I have ever seen at the Lonestar Amphitheater.  This was the smoothest run, most fun, day long concert that I have ever attended.  There was plenty of food, drink, and an overload of rock and roll, from 12:30 pm to 1 am.

This is just the first of many sets of selected photos. If you are looking for something different to do with the family this weekend you should go check out the Lubbock Arts Festival.

The Festival kicked off this week and since we had some free time this morning(granted it took a little gentle encouragement) I got up this morning and went to check it out.

I was pleasantly surprised…it’s not just the regular “arts” sort of stuff I expected to see, but jewlery, wood working, glass art, AND FOOD!

Probably the coolest thing was the booth set up right as you enter through the main door. It is filled with bright, colorful, modern paintings, by probably the youngest artist out there. As we checked out the painting, the young artist was more than happy to answer all of our questions, he even posed for pictures. Very cool, down to earth, personable  guy!

If you get the chance, get out to the Lubbock Civic Center this weekend and check out the Arts Festival and be sure to stop by and check out this guys art exhibit. You may recognize him as former Texas Tech running back (and current Pittsburgh Steeler) Baron Batch.

The Festival is this weekend (April 12-14, 2013) at the Lubbock Civic Center (1501 Mac Davis Lane). Tickets are $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for kids under 12. Hours are, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 8p.m. and Sunday 12p.m. to 5p.m

It was an awesome night…Drinks and Rodney Carrington, couldn’t of had a better night than that! He is just a funny guy and super nice…did I mention he’s not that much taller than me considering I’m 5’1″, but he is very handsome!

I don’t know, but that might explain why I was not allowed to tag along with my camera.

I do know that the guys had a great time visiting, laughing and signing autographs.  After taking a photo with one fan, they suddenly broke into an impromptu birthday song, filled with information about her that they had learned earlier while signing autographs. Unfortunately, by time that I realized what they were doing,  I was only able to capture the end of the chant, which is posted below.

This was the last meet-n-greet for our traveling guitar, a Schecter guitar signed by 6 bands, and it’s Ultimate Guitar Give Away Contest Winner. This has been an incredible rockin’ season so far for our KFMX listeners (who are all winners), but we still have that Big Purple Party bearing down on us, so let’s get ready one more time to … Rock… and WIN with KFMX!

And I got a fresh tattoo from the winner of Spike TV’s “Ink Master” show, Steve Tefft.

This guy was easily the best artist I’ve ever gotten ink from. Not only was he pretty fast, it took around 2 1/2-3 hours for the whole thing. But he’s also an amazing artist. He completely free-handed this. No stencil at all. He simply drew an outline with Sharpie, then went to work!

He’s a really laid back guy and a total smart-ass. So we got along great! Plus his girlfriend, Amanda I think, is smokin’ hot! And she’s a sweetheart too. Good times at InkLife 2013.
