Cute Lubbock Location Will Soon Become Exciting New Asian Eatery
I miss Masiso (4809 34th St), which closed quietly and without explanation in 2023. The kimbap and bibimbap were favorites of mine.
After the restaurant's closure, the building spent a little time as a vape shop- which I think it is safe to say Lubbock has in abundance.
However, I drove by yesterday (yes, on Christmas) to see a pleasant surprise- signage on the building indicating it was to become a Thai and Lao food place!
The sign says "Thai Pattaya" Thai & Lao Cusine. I am thrilled the building will once again be a restaurant because it's such an adorable place.

Thai cuisine is one of my very favorite options- with delicious entrees like pad Thai, tom yum soup, and delicious Thai-style curries. I am hoping the Lao cuisine means plenty of sticky rice dishes and (fingers crossed) green papaya salad.
When it was Masiso, it was laid out with tables and chairs on the inside but also had a lovely back porch area with plants. When the weather was decent, my family and I always opted for outside dining.
Thai Pattaya will join other recently opened Asian food options like Sushi Nami and Korean hot pot restaurant Momotaro.

It's reassuring to see new options after 2024 also proved to be a brutal year of restaurant closures like World of Beer, Nobilitea, and many others.
